Girls Lose Second Away Game in 2 Days at Culpeper County

The girls traveled to Culpeper County High School for their second road game in two days to kick of the 2013 campaign. The girls looked good controlling possession for the first 10 minutes, then began to fade as fatigue and the speed of the Devilettes allowed Culpeper to take control. Culpeper scored two first half goals as they established control of the game with threatening attacks. The Falcons lone goal came with 5 minutes remaining in the first half when a free kick from Aubrey Munoz glanced off the head of Culpeper sweeper Tiffany Yowell, and fell to striker Cassidy Wagoner who put the ball in the back of the net cutting the deficit to 2-1 and giving the girls renewed optimism going into the second half. In spite that optimism the girls struggled to mount serious scoring opportunities while the Devilettes used their speed to create a couple of quality chances, but were denied a third goal by goalkeeper Emma Averna and a tired but resilient back line.
