For the second time this season the Falcons had to deal with back to back away games on consecutive nights.  After beating a big and physical James Wood squad in Winchester on Tuesday, the Falcons were not able to cope with the quickness and speed of play of the Cougars at Courtland High School.  Both teams created some quality scoring chances early in the match, but Courtland broke through with the opening goal on a quality strike from forward Marybeth McBroom 15 minutes into the contest.  The girls continued to battle and the score remained 1-0 at halftime.

The Falcons were determined to keep the game within reach going into the second half, but and early second half goal from McBroom put the game nearly out of reach for the girls.  Outside back Aubrey Munoz had a free kick hit the crossbar, an effort the nearly got the Falcons back into the game.  With 12 minutes remaining, however, Cougars forward Paige Robertson made a terrific attacking run followed by an outstanding finish to give the Cougars a 3-0 lead and seal the win for the Cougars.  Our road weary Falcons are away again on Friday for a tough Evergreen District game at Brentsville.  The soccer gods have been cruel to the Falcons, with 6 of the first 7 games of the season being away contests.
