Girls Win Second Home Game vs. Warren County

Game Date
Apr 23, 2013
Score
FALCONS: 6
WARREN COUNTY: 2

Playing just their second home game of the season, the girls recorded a 6-2 win against the Warren County Wildcats.  The girls enjoyed a lot of possession during the first half but did not generate many threatening attempts on goal.  They finally broke through in the 22nd minute when right back Hailey Miller passed a ball into the path of striker Caity Ashley who beat the diving Wildcats goalkeeper for a 1-0 advantage.  The Wildcats recovered well, outplaying the Falcons for the remainder of the half and scoring an equalizing goal in the final seconds of the first half.

The girls came out with a more focused and determined attitude in the second half, going on a scoring blitz that resulted in 5 goals in the opening 18 minutes of the half.  The scoring started less than 4 minutes into the second half when Mackenzie Cahoon took a corner kick that Caity Ashley headed into the back of the net.  Just over 5 minutes later center back Rachel Jones passed the ball out wide to winger Julie Kohler who drove the ball into the box and slid a shot under the diving Wildcats goalkeeper giving the Falcons a 3-1 lead.  The girls struck again just 10 minutes into the half when Caity volleyed a Julie Kohler corner kick off the crossbar.  The ball was collected by striker Cassidy Wagoner who passed it back to Mackenzie, and Mackenzie buried the shot from 22 yards out.  Just over 14 minutes into the half Mackenzie played a ball through to Cassidy who dribbled in and slotted the ball past the Wildcats goalkeeper giving the Falcons a 5-1 lead.  The final goal in the second half scoring blitz came about halfway into the 17th minute when another corner kick by Mackenzie was headed into the back of the net by Caity who recorded her third goal of the game giving the girls a 6-1 lead.  The Wildcats scored the final goal with 16 minutes remaining making the final result a 6-2 win for the Falcons.
