Girls Win District Battle at Home vs. Brentsville

The visiting Brentsville Tigers applied the pressure early and created some quality scoring chances. As the half progressed the girls began to create some scoring chances of their own, and broke through to take a 1-0 lead with 17:30 remaining in the first half when winger Julie Kohler delivered a fantastic cross just outside of the 6 yard box. Left winger Megan Diehl went up for the ball and headed the ball cleanly into the back of the net.
The girls scored again with just under 32 minutes remaining in the second half when center midfielder Mackenzie Cahoon played a through ball down the left side to striker Cassidy Wagoner. Cassidy collected the ball and carried it 30 yards before putting the ball past the Tigers keeper where it deflected of the right goalpost and into the goal giving the girls a 2 goal lead. The Tigers applied plenty of attacking pressure during the remainder of the half but the defense, anchored by backs Gaby Tirado, Elizabeth Leibel, Rachel Jones, Aubrey Munoz and goalkeeper Caroline Leibel held firm preserving a 2-0 win.
