Brentsville had only 13 players available but played with a lot of heart and determination. At halftime the score was tied at 0-0, but the Tigers probably had the better chances in the first 40 minutes. Also missing some key players, the girls were determined to get to the next round and started to create some better scoring chances in the second half. The girls broke through in the 19th minute of the second half when winger Julie Kohler passed the ball in to striker Hailey Miller. Hailey played the ball through to Julie who dribbled into the 18 yard box and placed the ball into the right corner giving the girls a 1-0 lead.
The Tigers continued to battle, forcing goalkeeper Caroline Liebel to make some key saves. The girls got what turned out to be the game winning goal with 9:45 remaining in the half when Mackenzie Cahoon passed the ball to striker Caity Ashley. Caity played the ball out to the right to Julie, who got around the Brentsville back along the goal line and passed the ball into striker Cassidy Wagoner who volleyed the ball past the Tiger's goalkeeper for a 2-0 lead. Things got interesting just over two minutes later when the Tigers earned a penalty kick for an illegal touch with 7:40 remaining. The shot was placed perfectly into the left corner giving Caroline no chance and getting the Tigers back within striking distance. Both teams battled it out over the remaining minutes with the Tigers searching for the equalizer and the girls doing some determined defending. The girls held on for a 2-1 win to advance to the District tournament championship and the Region II tournament.
