Score
FALCONS: 4
MILLBROOK: 3

The girls had to come from behind in the second half to win their quarterfinal game in the Region II tournament at Millbrook.  Millbrook dominated the opening 10 minutes with their size, quickness and speed of play but the girls managed to keep the Pioneers from getting the opening goal.  For the next 10 minutes the girls had the majority of possession and began to create some quality scoring chances.  The girls broke through scoring the opening goal in the 19th minute of the first half when striker Cassidy Wagoner passed the ball in to striker Megan Enos.  Megan passed the ball out to the right to right winger Caity Ashley who beat the Pioneer's goalkeeper to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead.  After that the girls conceded three quick goals to give the Pioneers a 3-1 advantage at halftime.  The first goal came on a through ball down the middle to striker Brooke Borlie who buried a shot in to the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1.  Barely two minutes later the Pioneers were awarded a penalty kick for a foul just inside the 18 yard box.  Borlie buried the penalty kick into the left corner of the goal to give the Pioneers a 2-1 lead.  Minutes later a ball was played through to a Pioneers striker who put the ball past goalkeeper Caroline Liebel to give the Pioneers a 3-1.  With 10 minutes remaining in the half the girls found themselves down by 2 goals and just trying to hang on until halftime.

To their credit the girls found a new resolve at halftime and came out determined go for the win in the second half.  Their resolve began to pay off in the 11th minute of the second half when center midfielder Mia Barreda played a perfect through ball to Megan, who was playing with an injured back, but managed to get behind the Pioneers back line and beat the goalkeeper with a shot into the right hand corner to reduce the deficit to 3-2. Megan had to come off after the goal, but the rest of the team stepped up to continue and pressure the Pioneers.  With just over 12 minutes remaining in the second half, Mia passed the ball out to the right hand side to winger Julie Kohler.  Julie dribbled in and placed a brilliant shot that beat the Pioneers goalkeeper on the right hand side to even the score at 3-3.  The girls were now energized and determined to press for the game winning goal.  They were rewarded with 4:02 remaining in the match when left winger Sierra Kroencke passed the ball into Caity, who was now playing in the striker position.  Caity took a touch to her right and then drilled a shot from 18 yards out beat the diving Pioneers goalkeeper and smashed into the right hand corner of the goal to give the girls a 4-3 lead.  With just under 3 minutes remaining center back Elizabeth Liebel was injured on a foul committed by Brook Borlie.  She had to come off, but outside back Aubrey Munoz moved to the center and freshman Katherine Trimble came on at outside back to fend off the Pioneers in the closing minutes.  In their first trip to a Regional tournament in almost a decade, the girls came from behind with tremendous determination to gain an important and well deserved win.
