The girls rebounded from a 2-1 loss against Chancellor with a 2-1 win at Easter View on Monday although it wasn't easy. The girls created some decent scoring chances in the first half but were unable to capitalize. The Cyclones opened the scoring with just over 10 minutes remaining in the first half when the Falcons gave away a free kick just outside the 18 yard box. Cyclones midfielder Anna Stackhouse took the free kick. She got the ball over the wall and just inside the near post to give the Cyclones a 1-0 lead.
The Cyclones held the lead until the 14:34 mark of the second half. At that point a foul was called on a Cyclones defender for an illegal touch inside the 18 yard box. Center midfielder Mia Barreda took the penalty kick. The Cyclones' goalkeeper got a hand on the shot, but Mia struck the ball strongly and it deflected into the back of the net. Mia scored the game winner just minutes later at the 17:56 mark of the second half. Cassidy Wagoner collected the ball on a throw in, turned and passed the ball to Mia, who took several touches to the right to create a shooting opportunity. Mia blasted the strike from 35 yards out and the ball sailed over the outstretched goalkeeper on what was arguably the nicest goal of the season so far. The girls continued to press in the attack knowing that the Cyclones would be fighting for the equalizing goal. Both teams created some chances but Mia's second goal of the night turned out to be the game winner. Goalkeeper Caroline Liebel ended the evening with 8 saves.
