The girls traveled to Liberty knowing they were in for a tough contest against a quality Liberty team. They possessed the ball well in the first half, but were not able to get an opening goal. Center midfielder Mia Barreda had five shots in the first half but was unable to convert and the game was tied 0-0 at the half.
The girls were able to withstand the Eagles attacking pressure in the opening minutes of the second half, then began creating additional scoring chances. In all the girls had 15 attempts on goal in the second half, but it was the final two that mattered. With less than a minute remaining striker Megan Enos played a ball through to striker Cassidy Wagoner. Cassidy and the Eagles goalkeeper both went hard for the ball. Cassidy was able to get the first touch, but the Liberty keeper made the initial save. Megan Enos followed the initial shot and when the ball deflected off the Eagles goalkeeper she was able to put the ball just inside the right post for the game winning goal with 00:32 seconds remaining.
Fullback Gaby Tirado, Elizabeth Liebel, Laura Cornish, Kailey Vance, and Claire Beaulieu did an excellent job of fending off Liberty counter attacks and breakaways. Goalkeeper Caroline Liebel also had an outstanding game recording 10 saves to preserve the shutout.
