Girls Win on Senior Night vs. Brentsville

In a contest between two teams that were finishing the season in strong form, the Falcons pulled out a 2-1 victory with two goals from center midfielder Mia Barreda. The Falcons struck early with a goal less than 3 minutes into the contest. Megan Enos received a throw in from the right side of the field, turned, and played the ball out to left winger Siera Kroencke. Sierra passed the ball back into the center to Mia, who put the ball on her right foot and scored from the top of the 18 yard box. Brentsville got the equalizer less than 6 minutes later when an early cross from the left side got over the Falcons back line and found a Tigers striker 12 yards out who buried a shot in to the left corner to even the game at 1-1. Mia struck again with just under 4 minutes remaining in the first half. A corner kick taken by center back Laura Cornish went over the Tiger's goalkeeper and fell insdie the six yard box where Mia got a foot on the ball and guided it goalward for what turned out to be the game winning goal.

Both teams created quality scoring chances in the second half. Mia was denied a hat trick when a strike from 20 yards out hit the crossbar and bounced away from the Brentsville goal. The Falcons back line denied the Tigers scoring chances on a number of counter attacks in the second half due to some amazing tackles from center back Elizabeth Liebel and some terrific interceptions from outside back Gaby Tirado. The Falcons defended extremely well as a team and limited the Tigers to 9 shots on goal, while attempting 18 shots on goal at the attacking end. Both teams played very well in a very competitive final regular season match.
