The girls rebounded well from a tough opening game defeat against Courtland and looked like they were going to escape with a win at Chancellor. The Chargers opened the scoring with 21:36 remaining in the first half on a powerful strike from 25 yards out on the right side that gave goalkeeper Kaylee Lamper no chance. Due to low numbers and very limited attacking options freshman Sedona Bivek was brought up from the JV team to add some attacking spark and entered the game with about 20 minutes remaining in the first half. She had an immediate impact and gave the Falcons a 2-1 halftime lead, scoring goals in quick succession with 3:08 and 2:00 minutes remaining in the half. Assists on both goals came from left winger Megan Diehl.
Both teams created good scoring chances in the second half, and the Charges broke through with the equalizing goal with 25:09 remaining in the half after some quality combination play down the left hand side. Sedona was robbed of a hat trick opportunity when she took a pass from center midfielder Megan Dietrich and spilt three defenders creating a one on one chance against the Chargers goalkeeper. Unfortunately the center official incorrectly whistled the play dead and awarded the Falcons a free kick for a foul committed by a Chargers defender even though Sedona had the advantage and a clear goal scoring opportunity.
The game went into overtime and appeared to be headed towards a draw when Chancellor was awarded a penalty kick for an illegal touch inside the 18 yard box with 1:00 remaining in the second overtime. Charger forward Alex Berg converted the penalty to seal a last minute 3-2 win for Chancellor.
