Nursing a 1-0 lead Tuesday night through the first 50 minutes looked like all Fauquier would need against visiting Chancellor.

Sedona Bisek added an insurance goal at 30:45 left in the second half for the Falcons.

Then the Chargers got on the scoreboard.

That goal sparked Fauquier into scoring twice in less than three minutes for a 4-1 Conference 22 win.

Credit Cassidy Wagner, who scored the Falcons’ first goal 12:19 into the game and the last goal midway through the final half.

“We haven’t had a lot of success in first halves,” Wagner said. “Coach (Rick Ashley) told us at half time that we needed to stop hitting through-balls and finish what we start.”

Mia Barreda scored Fauquier’s third goal 63:07 into the match.

Bisek assisted Wagner on her second goal.

The Falcons (2-6 overall, 2-3 conference) had 23 shots on goal in the game with most in the first 40 minutes.

Kaylee Lamper had three saves for Fauquier.

“We tried different crosses in the second half and started scoring goals,” Coach Ashley said. “A lot of our crosses in the first half fizzed in and we had trouble getting a final touch to finish, and a few were just too strong went over everbody.’

“I told the girls to just put the ball in the box to somebody’s feet and they were able to do that in the second half.”
