The Cyclones only had 14 players available for the game, but gave the girls quite a battle. The girls opened with and early goal just 3:58 into the match when Mia Barreda played a all over the Cyclones back line right into the path of Megan Enos who collected the ball, took a couple of touches and slotted the ball past the Cyclones goalkeeper. That would be that last goal scored for more than 74 minutes. The girls enjoyed a lot of possession and created several great scoring chances in the opening 25 minutes, then the game was very competitive as the half came to an end.
The Cyclones came out hard in the second half. Every time the girls lost possession in the attacking third the Cyclones counter attack was swift and very threatening. Using their pace on both flanks they created a number of great scoring chances and our back line and goalkeeper Kaylee Lamper had to work hard to keep the ball out of the back of the net. With just over three minutes remaining in the second half the Cyclones had a great scoring opportunity when Kaylee handled a backpass and the cyclones were awarded an indirect free kick from the penalty spot. Remarkably defender Kailey Vance, who was on the line just inside the right post, rushed out and made the block on the free kick attempt. Nonetheless, the Cyclones kept the pressure on and won a corner kick with 1:35 left on the clock. The ball was sent over Kaylee to the far post where it was volleyed in by the Cyclones with 1:24 remaining. That late goal sent the game into overtime.
The girls started strong in overtime, putting together a couple of early scoring chances. The second chance ended with what proved to be the game winning goal just 1:57 into the first overtime. Forward Sedona Bisek played the ball out to Megan Enos on the right side of the 18 yard box. Megan lifted a beautiful shot over the Cyclones goalkeeper that fell just under the crossbar and just inside the far post. The final goal came with 3:22 remaining in the second overtime when Sedona won the ball on the goal line just to the right of the Cyclones goal. She passed the ball back to Cassidy Wagoner who was running at the edge of the 6 yard box and buried the in the right hand corner of the net. Kaylee had 12 saves on the night, most of them coming in the second half.
