Both teams created quality scoring chances throughout the game in a very competitive match. With solid defending and quality play from both goalkeepers, the first half ended scoreless. The girls got the breakthrough goal from Mia Barreda 7:32 into the second half. Kamryn Dietrich passed the ball back to the center midfielder who took an uncontested shot from 35 yards out and placed the shot just over the Cougars goalkeeper and just below the crossbar to give the girls a 1-0 lead. Less than two minutes later Cassidy Wagoner scored to give the girls a 2-0 lead with what proved to be the game winning goal. Megan Enos took a shot from the edge of the 18 yard box that struck the crossbar and fell into the 6 yard box. Cassidy was following the shot and was able to pass the ball into the back of the net. The final goal came with about 10 minutes remaining. The Cougars took a corner kick and the girls were unable to clear the ball out of the 18 yard box. The ball finally came to Cougars freshman forward Gracie Crater who hit a low shot into the left hand side of the goal to cut the lead to 2-1. The girls had a chance to score an insurance goal when Sedona Bisek had a breakaway opportunity late in the game but was thwarted by an outstanding save by the Cougars goalkeeper. The girls hung on for a 2-1 win in a game that was very well played by both cross county rivals.
