Our Spirit Day at Chick-fil-a is Wednesday, May 15 from 6:00 AM - 9:00 PM.  The girls will be handing out vouchers and vouchers will also be available at the gate for our home games against Brentsville and Kettle Run.  For every purchase that is made that day using one of our vouchers, 20% of the proceeds from the sale will be donated to our girls soccer program.  Please encourage the girls to hand out those vouchers, and please plan on stopping by Chick-fil-a on May 15 to support our girls soccer program!

Our car wash on April 27 at Blue Ridge Orthopaedic and Spine Center was a huge success.  For much of the 6 hours we were washing 4 cars at a time (sometimes 5!) and we had 1 or 2 cars waiting in line.  The girls waving signs out on Shirley Avenue kept bringing in the customers, and the rest of us stayed busy washing and drying.  We had about 50 towels for drying but that wasn't enough on such a busy day.  A local vet, who stopped by for a car wash, was kind enough to loan us 10 dry towels from her office.  There was a huge turnout from the varsity and JV teams, with many of the girls working more than the shift they signed for originally.  We had 3 varsity players work the entire 6 hours!  Our hosts were kind enough to bring us enough food from Subway to feed an army, so we were busy but not hungry.  In just 6 hours we raised $1264 for the girls soccer program!  When I turned in the fundraising paperwork I estimated that we would make $600, so the car wash truly was a huge success!

The Varsity and Junior Varsity teams will be holding a fundraising car wash on Saturday, April 27, from 9:00-3:00 in the parking lot of Blue Ridge Orthopedic.  Each player will be asked to work a 2 hour shift.  A sign up sheet will be available at practice next week for the girls to sign up for the shift of their choice.  Other teams have raised over $1,000 doing a car wash at Blue Ridge Orthopedic so we are optimistic that this will be a great fundraiser for the girls soccer program at FHS.

Falcon cards were issued to the Varsity and Junior Varsity teams last week.  Each player was issued four cards to sell.  The cards sell for $10, with $7.00 from each sale going to girls soccer.  If each player sells the four cards that they were issued that will raise over $1,000 for the girls soccer program.  Any player that would like additional cards to sell can get them from coach Ashley.

In the event that we are unable to practice outdoors, the following is the indoor practice schedule for the spring 2013 season:

Monday:  3:00-4:30 New Gym 1

Tuesday:  6:00-7:30 Old Gym

Wednesday:  4:30-6:00 Old Gym

Thursday:  3:00-4:30 Old Gym

Friday:  4:30-6:00 New Gym 2

Girls’ soccer tryouts for the spring 2013 season will be held February 19-21 from 3:00-5:00 at BB&T field at the Athey field complex.  The Athey field complex is located across Old Waterloo Road from the school, adjacent to the Warrenton Aquatic and Recreation Facility (WARF).  Registration will take place February 19 from 2:45-3:15 in the gym lobby.  In the event that the field is not playable, tryouts will be moved to the gym.  The girls should have both indoor soccer shoes and cleats all three days in case of a last minute tryout location change.

Please note that the girls must have a current VHSL physical exam prior to tryouts.  Anyone who has not already played a school sport this school year will need to turn in the VHSL physical exam paperwork to Bryan Grimley in the trainer’s office by February 19.
